Sven Spacebrain ist schon seit Ewigkeiten in der südhessischen Musikszene aktiv. Er spielte in Bands wie The Spacebrains oder Nasty Riot. Seit 2009 ist er Gitarrist und Sänger bei Torpedohead. Diese haben kürzlichst eine EP als Tape veröffentlicht und werden zum Jahresende ihr neues Album vorstellen.
Sven hat sich die Zeit genommen uns seine 10 Lieblingsplatten vorzustellen. Ein toller Mix aus Punk und Rock!
13 COLOURS RED – PURE
Awsum debut with a mix of punk-rock-brit-pop-alternative that created a genre of it’s own. 25 years after it was released i still don’t get bored of this album and it grips me from top to bottom ! If you need a nuclear holiday, drop a needle in this groove.
2AC/DC – HIGHWAY TO HELL
This is another one of those albums i never get tired of hearing. From top to bottom great rockin‘ songs. I kinda seem to swap this one out from time to time on the desert island album list w/ Back in Black… well this time it’s Highway ! Shazbot… nano nano.
3JOHNNY THUNDERS & THE HEARTBREAKERS – L.A.M.F.
Johnny, the king of underground cool with tons of unforgetable riffs and hooks. This record has it all… attitude, great songs and a cool cover.
4AMERICAN HEARTBREAK – POSTCARDS FROM HELL
Guido, guitarist of the DONOTS gave me this album ages ago and told me: Check these guys out… they rock and sound alot like you !“ After a tour and over a decade later we are still friends and the boys from California can be heard as guests on our upcoming new full length album.
5THE REPLACEMENTS – LET IT BE
Just listen to „Answering Machine“ and „Favorite Thing“ and you don’t want to do anything but play it again… This album has all you need: dirt, punk, rock n‘ roll, folk and pop. Their masterpiece.
6L.A. GUNS – L.A. GUNS
The Guns from Roses… Raunchy straight forward sleaze rock! Perfect mix of punk, rock, metal and one of the coolest logos on the cover ever.
7THE WILDHEARTS – FISHING FOR LUCKIES
Riff after riff, tons of melodies and some punkrock up the sleeve a go-go is what you get on this album. Along with the coolest song from the Wildhearts „Sick of Drugs“. If you ever dreamed of Slayer jamming with the Beatles… this is what it would sound like.
8LOVE/HATE – WASTED IN AMERICA
These guys always stuck out from the rest of the end of 80s „LA scene“.
They already had one foot in the 90s when nobody was talking about the new wave. One minute you get straight ahead hard rock, followed by dark n‘ twisted sounds… ending up with tons of vocal melodies. And always cool artwork by bassist Skid.
9ELTON JOHN – GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD
I learned all about how to arrange perfect backing vocals from this record.
The Murray/Olsson/Johnstone gang vox just beat everything ! Oh… and then of course there is this awsum piano player w/ a Donald Duck suit as well… oh … and there is „Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting“… oh and… !!!
10FASTER PUSSYCAT – WAKE ME WHEN IT’S OVER
This is sleaze rock as best at it can get ! Rock n‘ roll with punk and blues and a little funk as a side dish … and a killer sound. Dry guitars and huge punching drums … The perfect soundtrack for takin‘ a ride down the highway.
