Howdy, all. Kev here (in case you haven’t figured it out by now, it’s almost always Kev posting shit here).
First of all, thanks to everyone for the outpouring of love and jubilation over today’s announcement of us coming out of retirement to join our friends The Circle Jerks and Negative Approach on this upcoming tour next year. The CJ’s and NA are already out there blowing people’s minds (along with great bands like The Adolescents and Municipal Waste) so if they come through your town, be sure and catch them because it might be your one chance to see such an amazing bill.
We are beyond honored at the response. So many of you checked in today, it was quite something, despite the Facebook and Instagram outage.
There are a many questions regarding us agreeing to go back on the road and I promise I will address them all soon. Initially, we said no to the CJs offer for a number of personal reasons, mostly having to do with (as many of you know) health and family. We’re still sorting through things and suffice it to say, these next few months leading up to next March, are going to be crazy and difficult but we’re hell bent on doing it because, for all of the many things that Steve, Troy, Bobby and I have opposing opinions on, the one thing we unanimously agree on is that 7Seconds did not go out the way we wanted it to and we ended it more out of necessity and peace of mind than anything else. When you try and combine bad health, addiction, family struggles and job woes with shitty shows, poor albums sales and being broke, you’re never going to come up with a winning combination.
Anyway, some things are the same but a great deal has changed and the opportunity to go out one more time with The Circle Jerks was just too great and fun of an opportunity to let pass us by. Touring with them back in 1988 was one of the funnest things we ever did and it just felt like the one to help bring us out of retirement. Also, becoming a part of the wonderful Trust Records family and seeing the amazing response The Crew reissue received has brought up our spirits in ways we could never verbalize.
I will have more to say on how things are coming together and share more details very very soon.
Our dear pal Nolan Erck is kindly helping us get our website back up and running. There’s not much there at the moment but please be sure to check out http://7secondsmusic.com from time to time.
For the time being, this and our Instagram (@official7seconds) will be the primary place to get all pertinent 7Seconds info.
Thank you again. We love you all and look forward to see you out there in 2022.
