Das Mini-Album A Will To Change ist gerade etwa ein halbes Jahr alt, und schon folgt die nächste Veröffentlichung der Oldschool-Hardcore-Veteranen-Combo Cutting Through. Bereits nächsten Monat soll, wieder über New Age Records, die neue EP Apathy herauskommen. Die 7″ kommt somit synchron mit der ersten Europa-Tour im April zusammen mit den Spaniern Appraise heraus (Daten am Ende des Beitrags). Von dieser neuen Scheibe kann man sich auch bereits den ersten Song Just Won’t Quit anhören. Mir persönlich gefällt der neue Song zwar etwas weniger als die vorherigen, das schmälert aber die Vorfreude auf die Shows der beiden Bands nicht.
Cutting Through setzt sich zusammen aus Mitgliedern und Ehemaligen von Bands wie Get The Most, Go It Alone, Blue Monday, Safe And Sound, Unrestrained und Fired Up. Sänger Mike Driggs hat zum neuen Song noch ein kurzes Statement abgegeben, welches es bei den Kollegen von No Echo zu lesen gab.
„The song is based off an idea that I try to live my life by. Its about surrounding yourself with people who bring out the best in you, who challenge you, and who live their life in the vein that I choose to. And that is one with a positive mindset. People that are not easily swayed, and who welcome a challenge. Ones that acknowledge that we all make mistakes, and that we can change the way we do things. By surrounding yourself with these people, you begin to learn empathy and see the world outside your tiny box. The more you surround yourself with others who share these thoughts, the more you can grow, and the more you can help others grow. In a time of divisive behavior, I think its really important that we learn and gain the ability to understand others, and reshape ourselves. The future doesn’t have to look so bleak at times.“
